This boutique food and wine experience from Cairns will be tasting some of the best food and wine that the Atherton Tablelands has to offer. First stop is a Private Property for a 3 course breakfast at a Davidson Plum and finger lime farm with stunning views, then to a riverside location for local cheeses and Indigenous condiments and a glass of wine. Lunch at the Platypus Park to watch them play and try Kangaroo, Crocodile and other delicacies Visit a working dairy farm and sample their chocolates, stop in for a seasonal fruit platter and Macadamia nuts. Then a tipple or 2 at Mt Uncle distillery, 15 Fruit wine tastings and finish the day at Jaques Family Coffee Plantation for an insight to coffee making and a cup 'as you like it' with some delicious scones jam and cream. You will be taken through a variety of contrasting landscapes, relax as we taste our way around the regions 'Food Bowl.' 8 Unique gourmet Stops!The maximum participants for this tour is 12.
1. Sunset Ridge Farm
A family owned and run business based on the top of the mountain range over looking green rolling hills lush rainforest and over looks a large part of the Tablelands with magnificent views.
They grow several different varieties of native fruits Davidson plum, Lemon aspen and Finger limes. We have a delicious breakfast made from these fruits and you can then purchase jams and marshmallows unique to the region.
2. Rainforest Bounty
Next, head to the scenic outskirts of the Historic rural town of Malanda to a private property to taste Gallo Cheeses with their signature condiments utilizing locally grown Davidson plum, lemon aspen lilly pilly and rainforest tamarind in traditional artisanal recipes. Sip a native fruit cocktail whilst overlooking the delightful Johnston River from their River Pavilion.
3 Australian Platypus Park at Tarzali Lakes
These wonderful creatures can be found in a spring fed pond, we take a wonder down to see them in this magnificent setting then sit down to a unique lunch. The lunch is produced onsite using their smoked products and include Crocodile, Red Claw (Yabby) Kangaroo, Smoked chicken and smoked Spanish Mackerel, the a choice of Platypus boutique beer or Dragon Fruit cider and a Lemon Myrtle tea.
4. Gallo Dairyland
Head through the picturesque village of Yungaburra to a fully operational dairy farm spread across 1000 acres of rich red volcanic soil with handcrafted chocolates and a gourmet cheese factory. Taste irresistible Swiss style filled chocolates that are a work of art.
5. The Humpy
Stop at ‘The Humpy’, the best place to go to for freshly harvested Atherton Tablelands produce straight from the growers. From vegetables to tropical fruits and hundreds of different varieties of nuts, dried fruits locally produced jams and sauces. Taste some seasonal fruits and many different flavours of hot local peanuts and macadamia nuts.
6. Mount Uncle Distillery
Travel just down the road to the Mount Uncle distillery, North Queensland's first and only distillery. Taste some of their award winning liqueurs and spirits, and a tasting of their new boutique beer, before a delicious fresh lunch of local produce and a glass of wine or beer.
7. Debrueys Boutique Tropical Winery
Down a secret bush track, find De Bruey's Boutique Wines. Sit on the back deck sipping 15 deliciously different tropical fruit wines, liqueurs, cream liqueurs and Ports whilst overlooking the beautiful surrounds of gum trees & Billabong.
8. Jaques Family Coffee Plantation
Visit the Jaques Family coffee plantation, in the family for three generations, for a stroll through the coffee bushes and gardens. Finish the stop with a delicious cup of Jaques coffee made just as you like it and homemade scones with local jam & cream.
