Morning tea of homemade scones, jam, cream, tea and coffee is served on arrival, to welcome our guests. We provide a wholesome and plentiful BBQ Lunch of fresh mackerel fish parcels, chicken and beef skewers, potato salad, coleslaw, garden salad and crusty bread. We also supply good quality snorkel gear & UV and wet suits. We see brahimy kites, sea eagles, rock wallabies, dolphins, turtles, dugongs, hump back whales( in their migration season) and other marine and local wildlife, but each day is different and it is a surprise to what we see on your day??Afternoon tea is fresh fruit platter, Anzac biscuits, tea and coffee. We also offer boom netting.

We do cease cruises around mid January to the April Easter Holidays, for refit and maintenance of Big Mama and also it is the cyclone season and very HOT! We recommence the first dayof the Australian Easter school holidays.

Designed for free-and-independent cruise ship passengers that are seeking high-quality and great-value shore excursions. We are offering you three different packaged tours that would normally be offered and done separately. Choose how much you want to see and how much you want to spend by your selection of options.

These activities were selected because they are some of the most popular things to do when visiting Townsville:

  • Option 1: 2 - Hour fully guided Scenic & History Tour
  • Option 2: 4.5 Hours Scenic & History Tour plus Australian Animals at Billabong Sanctuary
  • Option 3: 6.5 Hours Includes the above (2) options plus your choice to visit either Reef HQ Aquarium or Museum of Tropical Queensland

OPTION 1: Scenic and History Tour of Townsville (2 hours)

Itinerary: (3 stops*)

  • Townsville City and Castle Hill lookout*
  • Jezzine Barracks / Kissing Point boardwalk*
  • Strand Park & Pier*
  • Marina / Casino / Palmer Street area

Comment: This is a detailed 2-hour tour that is full of information about Townsville's past, present and future. If you are curious to know about this place you have travelled so far to visit, then this tour will inform you and show you the most scenic of city sights as well as educate you on what makes Townsville tick.

OPTION 2: Above Scenic and History Tour PLUS  visit to Billabong Sanctuary (4.5 hours)

Comment: After dropping those who wish to finish for the day back to the cruise ship, we then travel out of the city to Billabong Sanctuary which is located around 15 kilometres from Townsville. This is a wonderful animal sanctuary that shows many of Australia's unique animals in their natural bush environment. There are regular scheduled tours that explain the animals and their behaviour. This experience is very popular with our visitors.

OPTION 3: Includes above options 1 & 2 PLUS your choice of visiting either Reef HQ Great Barrier Reef Aquarium or the Museum of Tropical Queensland (6.5 Hours)

Comment: After dropping those who wish to finish for the day back to the cruise ship, we then head over to King Street where two great Townsville attractions sit side by side. We give you the option of which one you want to experience during the last part of what is a fantastic day out discovering Townsville. You are provided with an introduction tour followed by ample time to discover the rest of the attraction. You will then be taken back to the cruise ship.

Notes

  • There are very few places in Australia where you can experience the best of both Australian land animals and marine animals all in one day.

  • Most cruise ships dock before 8am with most shore excursion departure times before 9am.
